Documentary: When Björk Met Attenborough

This weekend an unlikely (yet totally likely) partnership of Björk and David Attenborough came together for the Channel 4 (UK) documentary When Björk Met Attenborough.

The documentary which was originally inspired by Björk’s 2012 album BiophiliaI, sees the Icelander team up with the legendary wildlife broadcaster David Attenborough to present a documentary that looks at the science of sound, the evolution of music around the world and Björk’s quest to combine nature with technology.

SESSION: Ghost Venue

“Soothing samples with modern beats & smashing synths” is how Copenhagen based electronic act Ghost Venue (Theodor Storm Kristensen/Benjamin Fischermann) describe themselves, mixing from genres such as soul, RnB, jazz, hip hop, funk, a range of world music and mashes them together with youthful force comparable to acts like DJ Shadow, RJD2, Blockhead etc. Debut album ‘Looking Back On Broken Pieces’ was released in the latter part of 2012 (and is available as a free download HERE!)

They stormed the Apollo stage at Roskilde Festival in the warm up days to a packed crowd, now you can reminisce that Wednesday evening as the sun is setting across festival grounds as the sounds of Ghost Venue are drifting across Dream City.

Video: Baby In Vain – Corny #1

Following the success of their triumphant set on the Pavilion Junior stage at this years Roskilde Festival Danish garage/punk trio Baby In Vain have released new single “Corny #1”. The video was directed by Here Today contributor Jonas Bang and filmed in the months leading up to Roskilde following them on a tour of Scandinavia.

SESSION: Broke

Broke formed in Copenhagen, DK late 2011 after Simon Littauer originally moved to the Danish capital to study management, but after growing frustrations of lack of creativity and the uniform culture in school decided to leave his pipe dream of corporate success behind. Soon after he moved in with Mads Bergland into his Nørrebro apartment with the sole purpose of forming a band. The two named the band Broke on reflection of the youths state of a hopeless and a demoralised generation not to mention their own financial situation at that time. They spent the next year moulding the sound of what Broke has become today, “a digitalised post-punk assault”, with a blend of relentless beats and futuristic psychedelic.
