VIDEO: First Hate – “Holiday”

in Blog/New Music by

First Hate will be embarking on Roskilde Festival exactly a week today when they headline the Countdown stage on Monday 27th June, as a summer treat they’ve released new single “Holiday”. The track plus the video for the track was composed and directed while on the road in China earlier this spring. Speaking about the single, frontman Anton Falck Gansted had this to say about the process of writing and directing.

“I wrote the song and started producing it while we were riding on trains & airplanes across China. Driving through smog polluted valleys and endless forests of skyscrapers, it gave this odd impression of being in a parallel dystopic dimension somewhere in the future. The music was supposed to be the soundtrack of looking back to before the end of the world to times where mankind hadn’t already destroyed the planet. When we came back to Copenhagen and finished the track it ended up being about looking back at life and remembering the good times, times when you’re in a new relationship or for me just thinking back to the times when myself and Joakim first met and spent our first summer together.”

“This new track is kind of the warm up before we start recording our debut album, we did a lot of things differently this time, working with some good friends and talented people (Patrick Kociszewski & Bastian Emil) who recorded bass and drums for us. In the end it’s a holiday track and we’ve had to have fun making it.“

“The video is a bunch of homemade videos we shot while on our tour in China last month. Fused with some photo booth shots of me singing in front of the computer. It’s a way for us to be able to look back at these times and remember them once we’ve grown up.”

VIDEO: First Hate – ‘Girls In The Club’

in New Music by

Today Danish synth-pop duo First Hate release the single ‘Girls In The Club’ from their self titled debut EP ‘First Hate’ that is out on Bad Actors Inc. First Hate is another promising act coming out of the scene that revolve around the venue Mayhem, a scene from which bands such as Iceage and Lower also appeared. The video is directed by Tobias Vestergaard. First Hate explains:

“We invited some of our girl friends to a club, asking them to dress in white outfits and dance along to ‘Girls In The Club’ all night long. Unfortunately, after several hours we had to stop filming due to too much alcohol being consumed, leading to too much booty on show. The final result is a highly censored version of that night.”

First Hate is Anton Falck Gansted and Joakim Nørgaard. They will be playing Vega in Copenhagen on the 30th of January. First Hate will also be playing SPOT festival.

RA

Earlier this month we had the pleasure to premiere RA ‘Prism (Trentemøller remix)’ from their latest EP ‘Remixes’. Since then things have been moving fast. RA has been named one of the most relevant bands in 2015 by Nordic by Nature and Hype Machine are also on to them. Well, not to mention they now have a video out for RA ‘Prism (Trentemøller remix)’ and here it is:

RA

Malmö-based RA is yet further proof that Copenhagen is not the only Scandinavian city that can turn out that sought-after ‘nordic noir’ punk. The band, who recently played at Roskilde Festival and Copenhagen Psych Fest, formed in 2012. Their music is dark, driven by guitar and bass  and likened to acts like Brian Jonestown Massacre. Ra has released both and 10″ and a 7″ records and will be releasing their debut album in mid 2015.

RA’s latest release is entitled “Remixes” and features, appropriately enough, remixes from Trentemøller, Noe Spagato, Myth and Bam Spacey. It was released on vinyl on the first of  December (it will be released on digital the 29th of December). The first single is called “Prism (Trentemøller remix)” .
