INTERVIEW: Schultz and Forever

Schultz and Forever have been nominated in the ‘Politiken IBYEN Awards 2013’ in the category ‘The Year’s Upcoming’ which shines light on 5 Danish acts that have gained hype over the past year and are about to break. Below is Schultz and Forever’s interview video made by the Here Today team for said award which also features two tracks from his recent session with us both ‘Half A Man’ and ‘Sociopathic Youth’.

SESSION: Schultz and Forever

Schultz and Forever’s lead man Jonathan Schultz captured the attention of the Danish media in 2011 after releasing his debut EP ‘Odd Stories‘. He continued to build hype by playing popular sets at SPOT festival and across Denmark, in May 2012 he was placed number 1 on the highly regarded DR P3 ‘Det Elektriske Barometer’. With mature gruff vocals comparable to The Tallest Man On Earth/Mumford and Sons/Dylan and song writing credentials to match at only 18 years of age. Schultz and Forever has just released their second EP ‘Celine‘ in January 2013 on Cracki Records.

SESSION: Cody

Danish folk septet Cody was formed by Kaspar Kaae back in 2004 inspired by a mix of folk/pop melodies with hints of post rock and nordic glum. The band released their debut album ‘Songs‘ in 2009 on the back of hype around their first EP ‘Cody‘. They released their second EP ‘Under The Pillow, Under The Elms‘ in the summer of 2011 in the lead up to their Roskilde Festival performance and recently released their second album ‘Fractures‘ late summer last year in Denmark (1st February 2013 rest of Europe). Cody are known for their intimate and honest live shows consistantly gaining rave reviews from Danish and International media alike.

SESSION: Ring Them Bells

Copenhagen “noise rockers” Ring Them Bells first came to light at the start of 2012 after they released teaser track ‘Technicolor’ on their social media. With powerful riffs at the center, along with curvy melodies and seductive vocals the band have taken inspiration from ’60s soul and blues roots combined with acid and noise. They’ve recently finished recording their debut album, set to be released at the start of February 2013. We met up with them on the final day of recording. Featuring: Marcus Bror Forsgreen (guitar) and Laila Macfarlan (percussion)
