Watch “Heart Of Africa” from our session with Jacob Bellens:
For the past 10 years, Jacob Bellens has been at the forefront of the Danish music scene earning a great reputation with duo-project Murder, fronting I Got You On Tape (see I Got You On Tape’s session here) along with several external collaborations. His signature is his strong, deeply emotional vocal performances, coupled with highly poetic lyrics and tightly calibrated musical arrangements. He recently released his debut solo album ‘The Daisy Age’ receiving critical acclaim in Danish media. On a blustery/chilly Saturday morning in Copenhagen he came and performed lead single ‘Heart Of Africa’ from ‘The Daisy Age’ and also gave us a sneak preview of things to come with two new tracks, ‘Another Lung’ and ‘Northern Lights’.

I Got You On Tape formed as an “all-star” band back in 2004 as acclaimed musicians from the Copenhagen indie, jazz and underground scene. It wasn’t before 2006 when they released their self titled debut album on Auditorium Records, which laid down the foundation for the bands sound and by the time they came round to releasing their follow up ‘2‘ in 2007 they gained a strong reputation as a top live act in Denmark. A switch to Tiger Spring Records for their third album “Spinning For The Cause” which was released in 2009, earned them rave reviews and the top award at the DR P3Awards in 2010. They released their highly anticipated fourth album “Church Of The Real” in September 2011 and have since been touring extensively stopping off at SXSW, Roskilde Festivaland bowing out with a show at Tivoli to cap off 2012.
